ROOM 237 is a subjective documentary that explores the theories and hidden meanings surrounding Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining”. In late 2012, the filmmakers reached out to Blind in hopes of crafting a trailer that captured the spirit of the film. The result was an oddly intriguing homage to the original, blood soaked trailer released in 1980.
In my early discussions with Rodney and Tim, I wanted to build a miniature set and shoot the VCR, controller and blood practically. But after a lot of R&D, we decided to move forward with an all CG approach. In the end, it really offered more control over the sense of dread and hyper realism that we were aiming for.
